My name is Natalie and I’m twenty-something years old. I grew up on a dirt road near the Atlantic ocean in West Palm Beach, Florida. I went to school to become a scientist, but I came out a technical writer and teacher instead. I still love science, though, and I plan to open up an afterschool program that teaches children about science and how to write about it. For now, I’m teaching abroad in Macau through a 2017-2018 Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship (ETA).
I started this blog, “Journey to the East,” to record and share my experiences while overseas. The title was inspired by my school’s annual event which brought together all of the on-campus Asian organizations for one night to showcase and celebrate their diversity. During my own journey to the East, I hope to learn more about my Chinese ancestry and share with others what it’s like to be an American.
